Repowering of the Büttstedt wind farm

At the Büttstedt wind farm, with 30 turbines the largest in the GERES-Group portfolio, seven first-generation turbines will be replaced by six modern ones: Enercon E-175 and E-138.

To make this possible, the municipality of Büttstedt amended the development plan for the wind farm area. The permit under the Federal Immission Control Act followed in March 2026. Construction is scheduled to start in the fourth quarter of 2027.

Repowering means fewer but more powerful turbines at a proven site.

What the region gains

Ninety per cent of the new turbines’ trade tax goes to the host municipality, and the owners of the land receive a lease for the entire operating life. The municipality helped to prepare the repowering itself by amending the development plan for the wind farm area.
