BEE launches the Energiewenderechner

With the Energiewenderechner, the Bundesverband Erneuerbare Energie e.V. (BEE, the German Renewable Energy Federation) published a tool in September 2026 that makes the state and the requirements of the energy transition visible down to the level of individual districts. It models electricity generation and demand up to 2045, based on eight weather years at hourly resolution. The Fraunhofer IEE provided scientific support.

The GERES-Group is one of the supporters of the Energiewenderechner. A next stage is to cover municipal heat planning as well.
